Celebrating Family

Tonight my family is going over the river and through the woods (okay, it's only across the road) to my in-laws house for dinner.  We are celebrating the birthday's of My Man's siblings.  I anticipate an awesome dinner and dessert, followeed by laughter and catching up.  My boys will get in trouble for running through the house and my girl will probably cry and scream at least twice.  Good times!

Beef Pot Pie

Now THIS was awesome!
I simply made my regular recipe for Vegetable Beef Stew but ommitted the beef broth.
It was much thicker this way!
I poured it into a large casserole dish and topped it with a homemade pie crust (Crisco recipe) and baked it at 400 for 20 minutes (or until it was browned).
DELISH!

Blackberry Cobbler

I took the boys over to a friend's house this past summer to pick blackberries.
We picked quite a few so I decided to divide them up and freeze them for later use.
My man requested P-dub's Blackberry Cobbler last Monday night and I was pleased make it!

My eldest child asked if he could have some just as I was changing sheets on the bed and getting ready to bathe his youngest two siblings.
Absently I told him yes he could have some but that he would have to get it himself and could he handle that.
He was gone the minute I said yes.
Hmmm...
#1 He took enough cobbler for three adults.
#2 He must have thought scooping from one end was much too silly.

Cheesey Jalapeno Quesadilla

Yummm...
This was soooo easy!
Layer a flour tortillia (burrito size) in a deep dish pie plate (sprayed with cooking spray)
Top with shredded chicken, jarred jalapenos, cheddar cheese and cilantro.
Top that with a mixture of flour, milk, salt and baking powder.
Bake it for 20 minutes or so and let it sit a few.
Serve with sour cream and Harry and David's awesome relish/salsa stuff!

NOTE*  If I made this again, I'd probably sub the jalapenos with canned green chilis.

Creamy Chicken Mushroom Spaghetti

Another recipe from my gal Ree.
It was so easy to make and everyone really liked it.
Seriously, if you put spagetti noodles in broccoli, my kids would probably give it a go.

Chicken, mushrooms, parmesan, spaghetti and more goodness all loaded into a 9x13.
Can't go wrong here!

Devil Dogs

A few days ago, P-dub put a recipe on her blog called
 Devil Dogs.
Cake + homemade frosting = angels singing

You could probably use any old cake recipe but I used her chocolate sheet cake recipe.

This is the recipe she used for frosting.
It's heaven.

Sandwich the frosting between two layers of cake and top with more frosting.
You're also supposed to drop a cherry on top but I didn't have any.
Please don't let that stop you!

Keepin' It Real

Sometimes, on a Sunday evening, this is what my kids eat for dinner.
Oh who am I kidding?
This is what we eat EVERY Sunday evening.
