Monday Night Football

Well, I put this post on the wrong blog and I'm not about to repost it on the correct one.
I might have said this before but my computer is ancient.
And slow.
So, if you've come here to see one of my amazing recipes (HA), you'll have to excuse the mix-up.

We have season tickets to the Kansas City Chiefs games.
We have awesome seats.
I'm not bragging, just stating the obvious.
The Chiefs haven't had a Monday Night Football game in about six years.
This season, they got one and it just happened to also be the Home Opener.
Two wonderful things about a football game.
We knew immediately that we wanted to take the older two boys with us.
The sucky thing was that the game started, yes started at 9:15pm.
That's a bit late for us.
But it was worth it.
At least to us it was.
We informed the boys' teachers that they would be late to school the following morning.
And we took off.
(Oh yes, we also decided to tailgate)
And we don't really know how to tailgate.

I encouraged my boys to rest up for the big night.

When we arrive to most Chiefs games, we walk through the parking lot of tailgaters and always seen kids throwing the football around.
The boys could wait to start this!

Daddy got in on the action while I cooked up some grub.

I didn't bring my zoom, so some of the far away pics that I cropped look a bit grainy.

Nice one baby!

Look at that form!

And catching!
He's getting much better at this!

Here's our little set up.
My Man went and bought a little grill.
We brought homemade guacomole, hot dogs, marinated shrimp, chips and smore fixins.
I forgot to bring napkins.

The boys enjoyed throwing the ball at themselves (sounds strange, I know) and then diving to catch it.
They did this over and over and over.
My Man assured me that this is normal boy behavior.

Cookin' the shrimp!

.
When you tailgate, you kind of immediately become park of everyone around you's family.
This guy (Sean) came over to see what we were cooking and to offer the boys some face paint.

I think the amount of face paint on Sean scared them a bit so they opted for something a little less flashy.

We went into the stadium with enough time to stop at the Pro Shop.
We'd promised #2 he could get a new hat and #1 a new jersey.
#2 spent a great deal of time finding just the right hat and then stood infront of the mirror trying on each one over and over, having a hard time deciding which looked best.

Which one do you think my homeboy picked out?

Yes, he chose the second hat.
No go back up and look at both hats.
He was positive the flat brimmed "lid" would make him look cooler.
And leave the stickers on?
Wuh???

As we walked to our seats, we stopped to show the boys some of the changes that had occured during the off season.

Then I told them that if they could find our seats by themselves, I would think about letting start getting up during the game to go get snacks (please know the concession we frequent most often is about 15 feet from the top of the steps).
They knew right where to go!

We got down there with plenty of time to see the players warm up and get situated.
Getting situated means everyone finding their cup holder and passing out the food.
Yes, we did in fact just tailgate, thanks for asking.

I don't know who this player is but I thought it represented quite well the ginormous size of a professional football player.  For those of you who think your child will play pro ball, let me assure you that the average-sized kid who grows into an average-sized man needs to try a different dream.

Oh Arrowhead, how I love thee!

Oh how I wish I had a clue about photographing fireworks.
There were a lot of them and they were great!

Sitting, amazed at all the glitz and glam of Monday Night Football.
The stickers stayed on the hat...I have no idea...and the towel (or Rally Rag)...don't know about it either.
He's his own person!

KC Wolf making his grand entrance!
He zip-lined onto the field!
The boys loved it!

Okay, I couldn't zoom anymore on this pic (next time I WILL take my zoom lens).
But here's my problem.
It was a problem when I was a cheerleader and obviously, it's still a problem.
If you look really closely, you can see the cheerleaders in the middle of the field dancing the Intros.
And if you look even more closely you can see stupid Chargers players right in the midst of them.
Nothing gets me more steamed than a stupid football player not getting out of the way of the cheerleaders.
Uh, hello?
It's about the cheerleaders.
When they are approaching the field, you ought to know that loud music is going to play and girls are going to start shakin' the hips and tossing the hair.
GET OUT OF THE STINKIN' WAY!

Here's the incredible line up the players run through!
Tons of Red Coaters, Flag Carriers and beautiful cheerleaders!

Here they come!

Well hey there Billy Ray Cyrus!

See him?  He's right there in the middle of those military guys.
My boys were asking, "Who is that?" over and over.
Finally I had to explain that he's Hannah Montana's dad.
Ohhhh.

The military guys were holding a huge American flag for the National Anthem.
It was awesome!

The cheerleaders were lined up just so.

And then they came over to our corner for a picture.
I asked them to squat down in a perfect formation so I could get a couple of pics.
That important looking person standing infront of them just happened to be walking by and took a picture too.
Something you might notice is the cleavage on these gals.
Times sure have changed since I was a cheerleader.
Though I never had cleavage to worry about, 10 years ago, the girls who did had to kind of "hide" the boobs.
I would say that 99% of the girls you see here have cleavage and they weren't told to hide it.

Okay, so it started to rain during the second quarter.
And that was the pits.
But thankfully, we scored some seats in a covered section of the stadium and got to sit there for the remainder of the game.
Not too bad of seats - at least my boys were pumped!

Touchdown Chiefs!
The Flag Carriers run across the field, cheerleaders to kicks and they play the "Hey" song.
It's awesome!

#1 scored a new jersey.

But I don't think it was near as cool as this get up.
What do you think?

Halftime was performed by Train.
It was pouring.
The cheerleaders had to dance in hats and rain gear.

We stuck it out until the middle of 4th quarter.
By then the rain had all but stopped and I was yawning like crazy.
And it was COLD!
We got back to the truck and headed home.
Within 10 minutes, the boys were sacked out in the back and so was I.
I hope it was something the boys will remember because you never know if your favorite team will get another Monday Night Football game.
